Come Mingle With Me - Traditional Feasts

We're back for another round of the Monthly Mingle. After a short break, many new themes and ideas have been whirring through my head. I am so eager to make this announcement. I myself missed entertaining and having so many of my regular guests come over to enjoy the party.

For those new around these parts, the Monthly Mingle is an event I created in the Summer of 2006. You will find most of the details here, including a list of all the past mingles we've had.

This month I've decided to select a special theme for all my guests. I am sure many of you will find it very appropriate and I look forward to all your fabulous ideas.

The next couple of weeks is going to be full of feasts, fests, food, friends and family. Many cultures and religions will be celebrating in some form or the other. At the end of this week the Indians will be celebrating Diwali - Festival of Lights, Hanuka for the Jewish or Thanksgiving and Christmas for many others and not to mention New Year's at the end of it all. It's simply a great time of year. I love spending warm, cosy evenings surrounded by friends and family, digging into a luxurious or traditional meal. The room alight with chatter, laughter and full of warmth.

My mind is already so full of ideas - decoration, sides, starters, mains, desserts, presents, entertainment. The list seems endless - but I have to admit I do take pleasure in going through the list and seeing how each one of my ideas come to life.

Monthly Mingle in November 2007

For this mingle I thought it would be absolutely great to have you all over for a wonderful feast to mark this time. So, this is what I'd like you to do - make a traditional dish that you and your family love. Add your special touch - be creative and imaginative but it should represents the festive time of year and the occasion you would be preparing it for (Thanksgiving, Christmas etc.) It can be a soup, side, starter, main or a dessert but it needs to be something special. It does not have to be a whole Turkey either! Tell me what is so special about the dish you have created in your post. Why do you and your family enjoy it so much? If you are trying something new this year let us know what was the reason that made you chose it.

The fire is crackling in my fireplace - I have laid out my table elegantly and the punch is waiting for you. I look forward to having you all over to celebrate Traditional Feasts.

Here's how it works:
  1. Create a dish that fits this theme. Blog about it anytime from now till December 3rd, 2007.
  2. Email your entry with
    • your name
    • the name of your blog
    • name of dish
    • your permalink
    by December 3rd, 2007.
  3. In the subject field of your email please state "Monthly Mingle - Traditional Feasts"
  4. In your post please include a link to this post and/or the MM logo, so your readers get a chance to mingle with us.
  5. Please send only one entry per blog. If you do not have a blog, simply email your entry, with a picture (if you would like me to add a picture) to
  6. Although it's great to get entries from all over the world I have to insist that they be in English. If you have a Blog in another language I would kindly like to request you to post your entries in English as well.

I'd like to remind those taking part to please check these guidelines carefully and when you send your emails to make sure all the required details are included.
