There are some big dates and events in the calendar that one always looks forward to in the year. You know the ones. You can count on the highlight every year: the child’s Birthday party knowing that there will be plenty of chocolate cake, summer vacation promising a few weeks of relaxation or Christmas when you look forward to the baubles, sparkles and family fun.
In my calendar I have added the Dubai Workshop to one such annual highlight .
Putting aside the fact that I am usually excited about Dubai anyway. Getting back together with my parents and brother always means a grand time, but now Dubai also means getting together with Sally Prosser and holding a fantastic food styling and photography workshop with a friend who has become a dear and cherished friend.
I am thrilled to be able to announce that we’ve put our heads, energy and passion together and are once again offering a 2 day event this Fall.
After the Superlative Workshop at Atlantis, The Palm and then a State of the Art at the Miele Gallery, the third Food Styling and Photography event promises to continue with the tradition of providing hands-on sessions, demos, many exercises and exciting field trips. It’s going to be a packed 2 days of work and fun and I hope you are ready to join us.
“Never change a winning team” was Sir Alfred Ramsey’s statement as the very successful manager of the English soccer team, taking the team to win the 1966 Word Cup. With respect to this, Sally and I have once again collaborated with the Miele Gallery, revisiting their state-of-the-art gallery with modern presentation rooms, fully equipped kitchen and lots of open, light-flooded rooms (under the guidance of the super-efficient Cynthia Farhat), perfect for styling and photographing in a private and relaxed atmosphere.
We are also bringing back the talented and very vibrant Dima Sharif of the very successful “I COOK, Specialized Culinary Courses” to join us again. This time she will create a delectable authentic Palestinian menu for our participants. Dima will guide our participants in a hands-on session giving tips, talking about the authentic presentation and the history of the Palestinian dishes.
Finally, the unbeatable Russell Impiazzi of Lafayette Gourmet is also once again part of our team, coming back to prepare a surprise finale dinner for our participants.
New to our team is the lovely Arva, who I met at last year’s workshop finale dinner and knew instantly I wanted to get her involved in our next Dubai workshop. Arva is the fantastic brain behind Frying Pan Adventures, creator of the amazing gastronomic tours of Old Dubai.

She is putting together a unique and awesome street-food tour for our Dubai workshop participants that will take us away from the glitzy and glamorous Dubai and back into the parts of Dubai that often go undiscovered or have been forgotten. Together we will experience and taste authentic Dubai! I am very excited about this.
We will work intensively together on honing your food styling and photography skills, with presentations, exercises and assignments, which I will guide and aid you to develop. We will spoil you with tantalizing and divine meals and food and excite you with a memorable street-food tour of Old Dubai.
