Vienna, Europe's cultural capital and a metropolis with a unique charm and flair, will provide the backdrop for my first Food Photography and Styling Workshop in 2015. We start in style this year!
Together with my colleague Jeanne Horak-Druiff, who will co-instruct with me and the lovely Monika Kogler who will be our host, I am very excited to have a fantastic and very competent team for this workshop.
The three of us have put together an exceptional programme for our participants and we will have the opportunity to work and play in the heart of this beautiful city.
For the first day we will house ourselves in a fantastic studio and kitchen where we will not only work on the theory of food photography, hands-on exercises and assignments, but Monika will also be spoiling us with typical homemade Viennese dishes. The studio with it's many large windows and plenty of natural light provides the ideal venue for our lessons and the state of the art equipped kitchen allows us to enjoy convivial meals together.
Day two will be an active one as we take you to the famous Naschmarkt and the vintage market for your photography assignments, where you will have the opportunity to take impressive market shots and also buy some amazing vintage props ;) To round off the day, a coffee house visit in a more modern locality at the Naschmarkt will offer another photo opportunity for our restaurant photo shoot.
It is important for us that the participants who visit the workshops have an all round experience and while we plan to work intensively on honing your skills in the food photography area we have also tailored the 2 days in such a way so that there will be plenty of entertainment too. We hope to provide you with challenging exercises covering the basic and advanced food styling and photography techniques as well as hands-on intensive assignments, individual guidance and critique from the instructors. There will be sessions on natural lighting, detailed presentations on styling, creating moods, props, post-processing and saving your images and we will focus on low-light photography, giving you tips and ideas of how to master your camera in low-light situations.
To make your mouth water browse through my travelogue to Vienna with some lovely images at the Naschmarkt :)
We have also arranged for accommodation for the workshop at the wonderful Ana Adalon very much in the centre of the city!
