Over the years Dubai has become a true mega food Mecca giving impulses and inspiration to chefs around the world. What may seem extraordinary and out-of-this-world any where else, it in "only in Dubai" that this is an exceptional normality. For me Dubai drives me to think out of the box and I always come back motivated with new ideas. I love coming back!
Last year we had a winning professional team, where the entire organization of the workshop simply fell into place so easily. I was keen on keeping this team together and am thrilled that we will all be working together again. The vibrant Dima Sharif and I are once again joining forces to present a high level and packed 2-day workshop to our participants. We have put together a fantastic programme filled with many great highlights. Dima is a very focused, organized and full of amazing energy and I love working with her. We are in tune with each other's ideas and minds and complement each other perfectly. This year we have a very special surprise for our participants as Dima will be creating a spectacular 3-course meal from her upcoming book that we worked together on. She will be giving a hands-on cooking demo and together we will be integrating this into a challenging photography and styling session. Furthermore, we will be introducing a session on product photography from a client's perspective. This will challenge the delegate to view food differently and take their concepts out of the box.
Once again we will be hosting the workshop at The School of Culinary and Finishing Arts - SCAFA situated at the Jumeirah Lake Towers. We will have exclusive access of the professionally equipped kitchens where there will not only be the several cooking demos but also SCAFA's labs provide the ideal space for our photography and styling sessions with lots of natural light, individual workstations and presentation room. We will also enjoy relaxed meals and chill-out at their own restaurant Scafé.
Russell Impiazzi of Lafayette Gourmet also returns on our team as our permanent Dubai workshop supporters since the very first workshop in April 2012. Lafayette Gourmet will be generously supplying all the food and ingredients for the cooking, styling and shooting sessions over the course of the 2 days. Russell will create his signature Finale Surprise Dinner for our delegates with a very "wild" theme.

Diarize the dates for the Dubai 2015 Workshop as it promises to be an exciting and an invigorating two days!
All my workshops are aimed to help you as participants to draw from your creativity and inspire you to find and strengthen your personal style. We have put together, what we hope will be a creative, challenging but a fun workshop for the delegates. We invite you to join us for an intensive 2 days of food photography and styling sessions in the booming metropolitan Dubai.
There will be ample space for creative reflection and lots of intensive work, where participants will learn all the fundamental elements needed to hone their skills in food photography. Guided sessions will also show participants how to find their way through the jungle of food styling to create the perfect set-up.
Focused and comprehensive sessions will give participants insight on camera techniques, mastering light and lighting to capture the perfect image, getting down and dirty with aperture, shutter speed, white balance and ISO, finding and selecting props for your set-up, composing the perfect shot, the rules of placement and angles. We will discuss about the importance of workflow and discuss post-processing.
There will be many practical assignments, a lot of theory, hands-on group work and plenty of creative feedback from the instructors to help equip yourself with the know-how to create beautiful food and tabletop images.
As always we will be a small intimate group limited to 10 participants, which allows for one-to-one coaching, valuable individual feedback and focused group communication and teamwork. This workshop is ideal for amateurs and also more experienced photographers not only from the food branch but also aspiring photographers to change or broaden their field and build their portfolio. It is also aimed for food stylists, professionals, specialists working in the hospitality industry and bloggers with interests and passions in food photography and styling.
Together we will work intensively on honing your skills and channeling your creativity, which I will guide and aid you to develop. We will spoil you with tantalizing and divine meals. There will be a lot of great opportunity to network with like-minded people and talk to professionals from various branches of the food industry.
