Glossy Red Cherries

 Cherries (02) by MeetaK

I love the glossy shine cherries have. Once washed and dried, I pile them in a nice bowl and place them on the couch table for everyone to grab. Better than chocolates! Often the cherries disappear within a short time.

I just love when Soeren’s best girlfriend, Cosima is over for a visit. All I ever hear them is whispering and giggling. When I bring out my bowl of glossy cherries I can feel 2 pairs of gleaming eyes following me and the bowl. I hardly get a chance to put the bowl down before they grab a few handfuls and run off giggling.

Then I know what to expect – what you don’t? Sure you do – it’s time for the Weimar Cherry Pit Spitting competition! And it takes place every cherry season at our place! ;-)

The theme for Click this month is all about Bi-Color. Photographs portraying the motive in two colors. I decided for the bold red and a shade of white.

Details

  • Camera: Nikon D70s
  • Lens: Nikkor 18-70mm
  • Tripod: Bilora 1211
  • Focal Length: 56 mm
  • Exposure Time: 1/100 sec
  • Aperture: f/5.0
  • Lighting: Natural light from right using white bounce from left.
  • Photoshop touchups: I adjusted the color using the levels function, then using the curves tool corrected color balance by decreasing the amount of blue to fix the bluish color cast. Finally I added a new layer and setting it to “screen” mode, reducing the opacity to approx. 15%. bringing in natural light to the shot. Then adding a duplicate layer and setting it to “soft light”, which gently increases the contrast. Finally adjusting the hue/saturation to make the red pop.

  Hugs!

  6. Love the colors! & I am getting fond with the idea of the contest;-D we should really have one in our house, for the cherries bought & got home, hardly ever get time to go the fridge.

Meeta thanks for giving the details of the photo. Recently i was taking pictures of tomatoes & the oil on it & the natural light, reflected so bad that it lost all its charm;too harsh & blurry at the same time. i do not have a set up other than the window side;-( & not much an expert with photo shop.. but i will have to play around from now with learning to edit.
