Daring Bakers: Cannoli with Gianduja Cream and Lemon Goat Cheese Cream

Cannoli Gianduja (02) by MeetaK

“Sorry we’re not baking this month...” was the very first line I read as I opened up the Daring Kitchen forum earlier this month to see what the Daring Bakers’ were going to be challenged with. OK I am going to admit I did a sigh of relief! November has been full for me – too full! It has taught me to never pack a month so full with things!

Thanksgiving with a Layered Cranberry and Mango Mousse - Eggless

Cranberry Mango Mousse (01) by MeetaK

It’s hard to believe that the year is slowly but very surely coming to an end. At this time last year there were so many plans and new beginnings being schemed. If anything 2009 has really taught us how things can backfire and that even the most immaculately drafted plan can fall apart.

But we look forward and make new plans and aspire to aim for new goals. It’s what keeps us going.

Monthly Mingle 38: Warming Soups

 MMSoups-Badge

It’s that time of year when all we want to do is get back home into the warmth and coziness. Nothing beats the cold and rain outside than coming home to a bowl of steaming soup.

Hearty soups, warming soups, comfy soups or chilled soups – whatever you are craving we want it.

My guest host Harini of Tongueticklers wants to tickle our buds and wants us to bring our soup creations to this month’s mingle – Soups.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Create a dish that fits the theme 'Soup for the happy soul' - only vegan or vegetarian recipes not involving eggs - please.

  2. Post about it on your blog between today i.e., 22.11.09 and 14.12.09. (Entries must be in English, please).

  3. Your creation must exclusively be prepared for this event and cannot be submitted to any other blog event.
  4. You must provide a link to Harini’s announcement post and/or this post and send the details called for below (please look up for links at the end of the post).

  5. If your recipe is inspired from a cookbook, site or blog please acknowledge and provide a direct link to the source.

  6. Please send a mail to 'sunshinemomsblog [at] gmail [dot] com' with the following details. If you do not receive an acknowledgment within 5 days please leave a comment and we will get back to you the same day.
  • Your preferred name.
  • Name of your blog and its url.
  • Name of the dish and url of the post.
  • Your location (Country)
  • A picture of the dish 300pixels wide.

So get those pots steaming with something delicious, we’re looking forward to all your entries.

Note about the Brunch Roundup: The roundup to last month’s theme will be posted next week. As I am off to London for the FBC this weekend I will not be able to get around to it – but look forward to over 70 incredible brunch ideas.

 Burfi Tray

There’s a special treat in store for you all today. For this session of Bollywood Cooking I have some great support. Today Mowie and me are doing a double feature of a classic Indian sweet with a spectacular German twist. While Mowie shares his pretty Pink Almond Spekulatius Barfi here, I am over at Mowie’s presenting my Chocolate Lebkuchen Fudge Burfi.

Mowie steal the show!

Medicham, Gyarados, Hitmonchan, Crawdaunt, Shelgon, Venusaur, Pikachu, Zigzagoon or how about Jazz, Ratchet, Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Ironhide or Megatron. If I have gotten you a bit confused here then I presume you are not a parent of a 6-10 year old boy. Those who do have sons in this age will straight away know what I am rambling on about - right?

Quince Cinnamon Jam (01) by MeetaK

Monday 9th November 2009 marked 20 years of German re-unification. I remember, like it was only yesterday, watching The Wall come down back in 1989. I was in Doha watching CNN with my parents and friends and thinking "WOW! They do not have to queue for bananas anymore!"

Feel Good: Carrot and Red Lentil Soup with a Hint of Cumin

Carrot Lentil Soup (01) by MeetaK

It’s been fairly quite around here, I know. I’ve been feeling rather low and a funny kind of flu seems to have taken hold of me. I say funny because it’s not a full blown flu – it seems it’s fighting inside of me. It wants to come out but I am fighting to banish it from taking control. This is taking away a lot of energy and I’ve been feeling a bit drained.

Mirabelles Lemon Poppy Seed Foccacia (02) by MeetaK

There are certain times in my life when I feel like I need to break free. Free from the usual. Beak away from what I do everyday. Don’t get me wrong – I love my life – especially where I am today. I have everything I could desire and am happy – right down to the core. I am a Gemini you see, and every now and then my terrible twin comes out of the hiding and asks “What if …?”
